19 Сотворение Скопелоса и группы Спорадских островов
По древнегреческой мифологии вселенной некогда правил титан Кронос, сын Урана и Геи. Но существовало пророчество, что один из его детей свергнет его и займет его трон. По этой причине Кронос, женившейся на Рее, отнимал у нее детей сразу после рождения и проглатывал их!
Тогда Рея, готовившаяся уже в который раз рожать, решила пойти на хитрость: спрятав новорожденного, она дала охмелевшему супругу проглотить камень, обернутый детскими пеленками. Тот был в таком состоянии и к тому же так торопился избавиться от возможного претендента на свой трон, что проглотил камень и ничего при этом не понял!
Младенца, названного ею Зевсом, Рея спрятала в пещере горы Диктий на Крите. Это был златовласый мальчик, воспитание которого было поручено нимфам. Нимфы положили его в люльку из чистого золота, которую подвесили между ветвями в кроне огромного дуба, чтобы он как бы висел между небом и землей и Кронос не смог бы его найти.
Когда Зевс возмужал, он вступил в борьбу со своим отцом и победил его. Затем он дал ему особой травы, и Кронос изрыгнул своих остальных детей – Геру, Гестию, Деметру, Посейдона и Плутона.
Но Зевсу не удалось сразу занять трон, потому что братья Кроноса Титаны пошли войной на нового царя вселенной.
Зевс, заручившись помощью одноглазых Киклопов, живших до тех пор запертыми в недрах Геи-Земли, вступил в самую яростную битву, которая когда-либо разражалась во вселенной.
Титаны и Киклопы в этой битве вырывали и метали друг в друга целые горы.
В этой битве Зевс и Киклопы вышли победителями. Как гласит миф, Спорады были созданы как раз в результате этой битвы из тех скал, что были брошены с Олимпа в Эгейское море, ну а размер их был под стать соперникам…
Скопелос – самая большая их этих скал. В древности он назывался Пепаретом, а своим нынешним названием обязан географу Птолемею.
