König Stafylos

Die Klippen vom Kampf der Titanen und Kyklopen die in der Ägäis fielen, blieben für lange Zeit unbewohnt. Der Regen der vom Olymps fiel von dem Donnern des Gottes Dias half, dass sich auf den Klippen Grundwasser sammelte und Grün wuchs.

Vor 4000 Jahren, Bewohner von Knossos in Kreta mit Anführer Stafylos Sohn des Gottes Dionysos (Gott des Weines) und der Ariadne, siedelte die Insel an und gab ihr den Namen PEPARITHOS zu Ehren seines Bruders Peparithos.

1936 wurde ein sehr schon gebautes Grab gefunden, an einer Stelle die noch heute Stafylos heißt. Zwischen den Funden fand man das Schwert des Königs Stafylos, dessen Griff aus Gold war. Das Schwert befindet sich heute im Archäologischen Museum in Athen.

Peparythos stand in höchster Blüte am Ende des 6. Jahrhunderts und Beginn des 5. Jahrhunderts. Eine Serie von Silbernen Münzen wurde herausgegeben und man hielt Handel mit anderen Städten in der Ägäis.

Am Anfang des 4. Jahrhunderts wurde Peparythos für noch einmal unabhängig, das gab ihr wieder die Freiheit ihre eigenen Münzen herauszugeben. Auf der einen Seite der Münze wurde der Kopf des Gottes Dionysos gedruckt und auf der anderen Trauben, die das Abzeichen der Insel seit den alte Jahren war.

Mitte des 4. Jahrhunderts wurde die Insel, sowie auch andere Inseln der Sporaden von der Militär Marine der Athener besetzt. Aus dieser Zeit stammen auch die Tempel und die Burgen die bis heute noch erhalten geblieben sind an verschiedenen Stellen der Insel.

In der Antike gab es auf der Insel drei Städte und eine davon his Ewinos, weil sie schon von damals an guten Wein produzierte.

Bützanten, Franken, Piraten, Mohammedaner besetzten dieses schöne Land, aber die Qualität des Skopelischen Weines ist immer noch die gleiche geblieben.

Das Land von Skopelos ist glatt und fruchtbar und das Wetter ist immer schon. Aus diesem Grund hat die Insel viele Bäume und Weinfelder aus denen man den berühmten Skopelischen Wein herstellt. Kesarios Depondes des 19. Jahrhunderts sagte, dass der Wein eines der wichtigsten Sahen der Welt währe.

Forschungen in der letzten Jahre haben festgestellt, dass die Qualität des Weines so gut war und schon damals systematisch Exportiert wurde sogar bis ins Schwarze Meer.

Heute, 4000 Jahre nach den ersten Bewohnern der Insel Skopelos steht ihr Wein immer noch an erster Stelle.

Wie auch die Einheimischen sagen, gibt es nichts besseres als Abends den Skopelischen Wein begleitet von dem Blläterteig mit Feta in einem der Fischdörfer der Insel zu genießen.
