岩石上的圣约翰

在岛屿的北部有一间小教堂，是全世界独一无二的！

这所小教堂的故事是这样的…

很久以前有一个人，他住在斯果贝洛斯岛的第二大村庄格罗萨。他白天常开着渔船去捕鱼，晚上再开回科拉姆多码头，再走路回他的村庄去。在渔夫捕鱼的地方附近有一块露出海面的高大岩石，仿佛是被人从山里搬到海上来的。有一天晚上，当渔夫经过这块海中的岩石，他看见岩石顶上有一盏微弱、持续的灯光。他觉得很奇怪，因为岩石很高，石壁几乎是垂直的；没有人可能爬得上去。所以他想，那应该是海市蜃楼，或是明亮的星空映照在石头上的反光。

过了几天，当他捕鱼回来，又看见同样的灯光。他吓了一跳，害怕自己已经开始失去理智，怎么老是看见一些不存在的东西；但是他没有将这件事告诉任何人。

那天晚上，他在梦里看见了一位漂亮的妇女，样子很像圣母玛丽亚。她告诉渔夫在那块岩石顶上放着一幅圣像，所有的居民都应该看见。渔夫从睡梦中惊醒过来，跑去找村里的祭司，把他的梦一五一十的告诉了祭司。于是全村的人趁太阳还没有升起来，都聚集在岩石那里，并且看见了岩石顶上的亮光。接着，居民决定在石壁上开出一个阶梯，通到顶端。

他们很有耐心地在垂直的岩壁上辟出一级级的石阶来；经过了几个月的工夫，居民终于登上了岩石的顶端。他们在上面找到了一幅画着圣约翰的古老圣像。居民们把圣像拿下来，把它安放在岩石对面的俄婉耶里扎小教堂里。奇怪的是，第二天他们发现圣像不见了；原来圣像自己又“跑”回到岩石顶上去了！居民们都说，这是神给他们的一个兆头：圣像必须留在它被居民发现的岩石顶上。所以他们决定再度放下他们的工作，一起在岩石顶上兴建一所小教堂。这实在是一项艰巨的大工程，因为他们需要把许多的建筑材料和水搬运到上面去。居民几番艰辛，今天我们才能看到岩石壁上105级的石阶和阶梯上的小教堂！他们还在教堂的旁边种植了一棵松树和两、三棵橄榄树。
